Nick Stewart Officially Files for Baltimore County Executive, Vows “One County” Leadership
Owings Mills, MD — Democratic candidate Nick Stewart officially filed his candidacy today for Baltimore County Executive at the Baltimore County Board of Elections, formally securing his place on the ballot in one of the county’s most competitive primary races in recent history.
Surrounded by his family, Stewart completed the filing process Tuesday morning and reaffirmed his commitment to his “One County” vision — building a Baltimore County that is more affordable, inclusive, and modern.
“This campaign is about making Baltimore County work for everyone,” Stewart said following his filing. “Families are leaving because it’s too expensive to live here and they don’t think we can fix it. We’re the only campaign with an actual plan to deliver on housing, childcare, energy and much more — all while restoring trust. I’m running because we need a fresh start.”
Stewart is challenging sitting County Council members in the Democratic primary for County Executive, offering a clear alternative to the status quo in county government. Since launching his campaign in April 2025, Stewart has exceeded expectations, demonstrating massive grassroots momentum and raising over $400,000 to date.
He has earned endorsements from former Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, former County Council members, former state legislators, and community leaders from across Baltimore County.
The filing marks a major milestone in Stewart’s campaign and signals just the beginning of the next phase of voter outreach and engagement.
With 114 days until early voting begins on June 11th and 126 days until the Primary Election, Stewart’s campaign is in full swing — knocking on doors, showing up at community events, and meeting voters in neighborhoods across Baltimore County. The campaign is focused on real conversations about affordability, public safety, smart growth, and modernizing county government.
“Nick Stewart offers a clear alternative to the Baltimore County establishment that has made government work for themselves while failing to address the issues affecting county residents,” said Stephen Hook, Press Secretary for Nick Stewart. “While Nick’s opponents have spent their time in office building campaign war chests, Nick has entered this race as the candidate ready to put an end to the self-dealing we see in our government. Today’s filing is the official start of our sprint to the finish line.”
